Jane Hadfield
BA (Hons), PGCE (Secondary Art)
Jane has a varied career history working in the Arts and Art Education. Following on from a degree in Graphic Design specialising in Illustration, she worked freelance in this field. She undertook commissions for clients including The Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company, Thomson Holidays, Tesco, and a variety of book and magazine publishers.
Moving into Secondary Art Education was a natural step having done some voluntary work running a Primary After School Art Club. She undertook her PGCE at MMU and took on her first post at a Secondary School in Winsford, Cheshire. Here she was promoted to Head of Art and further added Textiles and Photography to the curriculum.
Latterly she has focused more on her own textile work but maintains some school teaching as well as working with adults, and stitch groups including The Embroiderers Guild.
Jane became a member of Threadmill in 2018 and exhibits regularly with the group. With a background in Painting and Illustration she produces mixed media textile pieces, reminiscent of collage. She is an avid collector of vintage textiles, lace and embellishments, which she uses within her pieces.
