Jan Hoyle

 My art is a tactile exploration of my surroundings, embracing the traditional art of wet felting as my primary medium. By replacing the brush with merino wool, fibres, fabric, and stitch I can create vibrant felted paintings.

I have had no formal training, but have attended workshops with various artists and have experimented with my own work to continue to develop and learn new skills. I love to combine the felting process with layering of fabrics and hand stitching, using simple, thoughtful stitches to create additional interest and detail in my work.

Inspired by what I see, my work reflects my response to the world around me, conveyed through rich textures and bold hues.

Recent travel opportunities have significantly influenced my artistic journey, inspiring work that departs from my previous style. This new work reflects a bold change in colour and form, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to my creations.
