Ruth Smith

My interests lie in felt making, machine embroidery and garment construction.  My design sources vary; I am always interested in architecture, plant forms, clothing, texture, marks and colour.  I like the excitement of a new challenge and do not tend to stick rigidly with a particular theme.  I enjoy the rhythm of repetition and the variety of contrasts.
My logical and enquiring mind influences my work, but can be frustrating too making me envious of those who work purely by intuition and play.
