Judith Warrender

I learned to sew as a child - our mother made all our clothes & I had a little Singer sewing machine.
I was inspired to stitch creatively by seeing City & Guilds embroidery exhibitions at Trafford College.
Often I use appliqué & simple hand stitching. Some of my work is influenced by patchwork. I like to add a 'quirky' touch, such as knitting to a piece of work.
I find ideas in themes & artefacts, working with colour, making felt with texture. Often the fabric will influence me - the feel of linen & silk; recycling vintage materials.
